Douw Steyn Family Trust and Telesure Investment Holdings continues to help feed needy families

DIEPSLOOT– Corporate social investment manager at Telesure Investment Holdings Nonkululeko Maninjwa said the initiative has assisted more than 1.2 million families to date.

In their concerted efforts to eradicate hunger in poor communities amid Covid-19 pandemic, the Douw Steyn Family Trust and Telesure Investment Holdings partnered with the Diepsloot Youth Programme to distribute food parcels in Diepsloot.

Diepsloot Youth Programme co-ordinator Babikie Sathekge, also known as Papi, said working with community-based organisations in the area has made things easier for them to identify those families in need of this support.

“Last year we partnered with Telesure and Douw Steyn Family Trust to help distribute food parcels to those in need. We are working closely with community-based organisations and local churches to identify those in real need. This time, more than 5 000 families will benefit and receive food parcels with groceries that can last for a month and beyond,” Sathekge said.

Corporate social investment manager at Telesure Investment Holdings Nonkululeko Maninjwa said the initiative has assisted more than 1.2 million families to date. “Last year, the Douw Steyn Family Trust and Telesure Investment Holdings responded to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call to unite in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and its ripple effects in communities,” she said.

“Our objective was to make a tangible difference to the communities we serve. We mobilised quickly and efficiently and innovation coupled with a good dose of humanity were the order of the day. We had to find a better way of getting the food to those in need, so we created and we implemented a door-to-door delivery system which makes use of technology to avoid duplication,” she concluded.
