Local councillor meets concerned Norscot Manor community members

NORSCOT MANOR– Margo said they are very optimistic that the recreation centre, which he described as the pride of Fourways, will blossom once again if the City take necessary steps and keep its promises.

A group of concerned community members met with Ward 106 councillor Chris Santana to discuss maintenance issues at Norscot Manor Recreation Centre on 21 May.

The facility was unveiled as a heritage site in 2015, however, recently there had been maintenance issues at the centre.

Following a two hour-long meeting that was held at the facility, chairperson of Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club Stephen Margo said they were very optimistic that the recreation centre would blossom once again.

“Our meeting with the local councillor was very constructive. We discussed a variety of issues related to the maintenance of the facility following recent pipe bursts in the facility. The recreation centre is one of the most important facilities and the pride of the Fourways community,” Margo said.

“We as members the community and the City of Johannesburg must work together to resolves these maintenance issues at the facility. As Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club, we will encourage our members

and community members at large to utilise the facility in order to raise funds

to maintain it.”

Santana, who was accompanied by officials of the Department of Sports and Recreation, urged community members to come to the party to help preserve the facility.

“The main aim of the meeting was to find solutions on the ongoing maintenance issues at the facility. The centre has been experiencing some maintenance issues like pipe bursts and lights malfunctioning,” Santana said.

“We will meet once again with all the stakeholders involved to report back on the way forward. I believe that working together with community members, we will preserve Norscot Recreation Centre.”
