Take note of these tips on avoiding car theft

DIEPSLOOT – Members of the community received pamphlets on theft out of motor vehicles by police in order to keep safe.

Officers of Diepsloot Police Station conducted an awareness campaign on 4 June focusing on theft out of motor vehicles at Total Petroport on the N14.

Spokesperson for the station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said pamphlets were handed out to the public which detailed the various safety tips that could be used.

“Motorists were urged to be vigilant at all times as there are suspects preying on unsuspecting victims. They were urged to avoid displaying valuables where criminals can see them, as this motivates them to break into their vehicles,” he said.

“Furthermore, motorists were encouraged to physically test door handles to ensure that their vehicles are properly locked.”
