Ward councillor hopes to have taxi hub built in Fourways

FOURWAYS– Moodley said the mall is working very closely with the transportation industry and the greater community to temporarily assist with a holding area for the taxis.

Ward 94 councillor in City of Johannesburg, David Foley said his office is working hard to have a Fourways taxi hub built for operators.

This was after Fourways Mall management, working closely with the local councillor, decided to provide a temporary holding bay for taxi operators in the area.

Foley said, “I have been requesting that the taxis park on the roof of Fourways Mall for over a year. This is a temporal arrangement that I hope will last for a while. “I am working with the regional director and the Department of Transport in Region A to establish a Fourways taxi hub which is really needed. We also need hawker establishment with ablution facilities.”

Fourways Mall communications coordinator, Veruschka Moodley added, “We work very closely with the transportation industry and the greater community to temporarily assist with a holding area for the taxis. Road safety for all is of the utmost importance, and public transportation is an integral part of our economy.

“As part of a collective drive to improve the node, Fourways Mall has also committed to the upkeep of the area, by extending our cleaning services mandate to include Fourways Boulevard. “We will continue to work closely with key community leaders to assist in creating  a safe environment for all road users.”
