Tribute to officer

SANDTON– After 31 years of service, Warrant Officer Jacob Mamabolo from Sandton police station has retired

Sandton Police Station bids farewell to one of their loyal and noble members.

Warrant Officer Jacob Mamabolo has served at the station for 31 years and now, at the age of 55, he would like to settle down, spend some more time with his family and invest in property.

“I started at Sandton Police Station when I was young and in my prime. Serving the community has been a pleasure and a real blessing. My time with SAPS has taught me many lessons in life but most of all to always give back and lend a helping hand,” he said.

As a senior member at the station, Mamabolo has gained much respect from his colleagues and peers.

Diligent and motivated in all that he does, he said discipline was a very important aspect of being a police member. “In order to become a noble policeman, one must never falter. Stay true to yourself while being honest, determined and always on the

right path.”

He added that young police members should be proud of being part of an organisation with such a rich history and prestige. “Now in my retirement, I need to spend some more time with my family and learn some new things about them too. I’m somewhat of a business man too so I’ll be branching out into property, you know that’s always a good investment.”

Mamabolo concluded that with the badge came great responsibility.

“When undertaking the oath, young members must be ready to serve to the best of their ability, show great strength and always persevere.”
