Orlando is calling for two local models

FOURWAYS – Two aspiring models will soon be jetting off to Orlando for the International Modelling and Talent Association Convention, which showcases various entertainment forms.

Two models who are a part of a Fourways-based talent agency will be given a chance to strut their stuff in the United States later this year.

Seven-year-old Lethabo Makola and 28-year-old Onalenna Maimane will both be jetting off to the International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) Convention taking place in Florida from 18 to 22 July.

Maimane started her modelling journey in primary school. She is also a part-time actress and features in the South African TV show, Rhythm City as a cop.

She recalled feeling overwhelmed when she received the good news, “During the call-back session I was overwhelmed as it felt like I was dreaming. Our call-backs were supposed to be from 10pm until midnight but I only received my call-back at 2am when I had given up.”

During her time in Orlando, Maimane will be participating in fashion, print and runway, as well as jean modelling. “[From this], I hope to gain international knowledge of the industry and become a casting director for both national and international films and soapies.”

Shangri La Academy learner, Lethabo said it was always her dream to go to America. She said she was very happy and excited when she found out she would be going to the IMTA Convention. “People always told me I could be a good model so I thought, let me try it. My parents started looking around for agencies I could join and they found 33 and Me Talent Agency. The agency trained me,” said the seven-year-old from Kempton Park.

Like Maimane, Lethabo will also be participating in runway modelling. “I want to become the best model and apply my experience with other kids.”

Both Lethabo and Maimane are scheduled to leave South Africa on 16 July.
