Joburg North learners are among the top performers in the country

JOBURG – A number of schools in the Joburg North area boasted some of the top achieving IEB learners in the country.

The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) celebrated a pass rate of  98.07 per cent and recognised some of the top-performing IEB schools in the country.

In a statement, the board said that 88.42 per cent of learners obtained a bachelor’s degree pass, 8.14 per cent of learners obtained a diploma pass and 1.51 per cent of learners obtained a higher certificate level pass.

Anne Oberholzer, CEO of the Independent Examinations Board said, “It is interesting to note that the hard lockdown had differing impacts across schools within the IEB. Some schools were able to make a smooth transition to online teaching and learning as they had the resources available and in fact, had already been using them in the normal course of events. Their teachers were experienced in this mode of delivery, as were their learners who had access to devices and stable internet connectivity.”
