SUNNINGHILL – A case of kidnapping and car hijacking has been opened after one victim was taken in his car by two armed suspects.

A man and wife were victims of a hijacking on 8 February while shopping at a store in Sunninghill.

It is alleged that the couple was approached by two armed male suspects while they were parking their car in the store’s parking lot.

The spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, Captain Bheki Xulu said the suspects allegedly forced the husband into their car and sped off in both the victim’s and suspects’ car.

“The wife was left behind and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention as she did sustain bruises. The husband was dropped off at the Midrand Gautrain Depot,” he added.

The husband was not physically harmed but the couple were treated for shock.

Items stolen included two cell phones, a watch, ear pods, a handbag and a wallet with bank cards.

“The car was recovered on 9 February in the afternoon by the tracking company. A car hijacking and kidnapping case was opened for further investigation.”
