Lawyers Against Abuse in Diepsloot receives R10 000 boost
DIEPSLOOT– Rust said his brand believes that everyone can be a champion if they dig deeper and put extra effort in what they do to make a difference in society.
In their concerted efforts to combat the scourge of gender-based violence in various communities, Vodacom Blue Bulls and Carling Currie Cup donated R10 000 to Diepsloot-based non-profit organisation, Lawyers Against Abuse.
The non-profit organisation provides free legal services to victims of gender-based violence in the area by assisting them throughout the entire legal process. This could include securing protection orders or pursuing criminal cases against perpetrators.
Executive director at Lawyers Against Abuse, Lindsay Henson commended and thanked Vodacom Blue Bulls and Carling Currie Cup for the recognition of the work they did in the community. “We are really grateful to be awarded this prize by Vodacom Blue Bulls and Carling Currie Cup. This will go a long way in helping us reach more victims of gender-based violence in and around Diepsloot area,” Henson said.
Carling Black Label brand director, Arne Rust said his brand believed that everyone could be a champion if they dug deeper and put extra effort in what they did to make a difference in society.
“This is in line with our brand’s commitment to rewarding champions and inspiring positive change in communities. We are constantly seeking ways to empower champions and this was a befitting way to do so.
“The year 2020 was a unique year that really required a spirit of endurance and willingness to pierce through the challenges to come out stronger than before.”
Henson urged members of the public to report cases of gender-based violence to help the country eradicate the scourge that breaks families apart. “We appeal to all community members, neighbours and community-based organisations to join forces in the fight against gender-based violence. Our job is not aimed at tearing families apart but to help bring harmony in society.”
