Fourways community joins hands with environmental NGO

FOURWAYS – Almost four months in, and environmental NGO Live Life Always has collected nearly 18 000 bags of waste to keep community members employed and the community clean.

Since the beginning of the year, a non-profit group called Live Life Always has committed to cleaning up various parts of the Fourways and Sunninghill community.

In three and a half months the organisation has managed to collect almost 18 000 bags of waste.

The Fourways Review previously covered the clean-up efforts in Over 700 bags collected [Week ending 22 January]. The small team has done clean-ups in Sunninghill, Lonehill, Fourways, Dainfern, Douglasdale and Olivedale.

They have also taken on the task of removing litter on the N1 highway from Rivonia Road to William Nicol Drive.

Founder of the organisation, Sean Williams expressed his gratitude to the various companies and community members for coming on board to assist the running of the NGO and helping keep members of the Diepsloot community employed with Live Life Always.

“The Fourways community has been tremendous in their support. We’ve had our loyal volunteers like Karen Moffatt who has been to every single volunteer clean-up, and has assisted since August last year [2020].

“Recently, Fourways Crossing has come on board financially. They will be sponsoring LLA by paying four to five members’ salaries every month. Live Real Estate, Hammond Pole Attorney, Smartworx and Plastics SA with donations of the collection bags have also come on board.”

Marketing manager of Fourways Crossing, Angelisa Gengan said the mall is extremely excited to partner with the organisation and assist where they can.

“It is still early days in terms of us coming on board with LLA, but we are very excited with partnering with the organisation because of their aim to keep the community clean.”

Gengan added, “It is something we want to do in joining hands with the community and making it a better place.”

Williams said picking up and removing waste in the various communities is not the only goal, as Live Life Always has also been placing red bins to alleviate the volumes of waste in the areas.

“So far we have built 28 bins in total, in areas including Sunninghill, Lonehill and Fourways. We want to carry on building bins in the community and do as many clean-ups as we can to keep our earth clean.”
