Day-to-day issues to be looked into in the new year

DOUGLASDALE – The Ward 106 councillor is hopeful more work can be done to better the ward with issues including potholes and faulty robots.

With 2021 fast approaching, Ward 106 councillor Chris Santana looked back on the year of 2020 as ‘an emotional, stressful, financial year for many people’.

However, with all the negative events happening, Santana urged residents to remain hopeful even in terms of uncertainty with the virus.

Looking to the new year, Santana said the focus is to make sure all day-to-day issues in the ward are looked into and sorted out.

“With the new year comes the local government elections, so there will be a lot of campaigning. I am also trying to make sure issues within the ward are dealt with such as potholes and street lights.

“Going forward, I think service delivery will be an issue. We have to do more with less. It’s trying to ensure money is spent efficiently, so corruption needs to take centre stage, and I hope it can be dealt with,” he said.

Santana concluded by saying that people’s well-being is of the utmost importance, and that ‘we should control what we can’.
