Guide-Dogs Association wishes local community a happy festive holidays and prosperous year in 2021

PAULSHOF– Sands added that the 2020 challenges proved that a lot can be achieved if communities stand together during tough times.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind based in Paulshof has thanked local businesses and community members for their support in 2020 and wished them a happy festive season and prosperous year in 2021.

Head of marketing at Guide Dogs SA, Nadia Sands said despite many challenges this year, the organisation managed to raise enough funds to keep them afloat.

“Our amazing team pulled together and managed to come up with new ideas and campaigns to raise funds which did very well. We were blown away by the immense support that we received and still receiving from our supporters, even during these trying times of Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

“We managed to raise enough funds to keep the boat afloat but we were still not out of the woods. The income streams were drastically cut, the amount of donations were being cut or completely stopped and we had no idea how long this would all last. We also had extra costs in terms of setting up staff to be able to work remotely and of course implementing the necessary PPE and related items needed to keep everyone safe,” she added.

Sands said this year’s challenges proved that a lot could be achieved if communities stood together during tough times.

“We have just one wish for 2021, that everyone will be blessed in abundance for the hardship that they endured and the support that they still provided, regardless, in 2020. It was most certainly a tough year but it was also a humbling year. These difficult times showed us how much we can achieve if we stand together and what a difference each person can make.”
