Driver charged following high-speed chase from Sunninghill to Waterfall

WATERFALL – A suspect was charged with attempted murder and reckless driving following a chase with the Metro police.

Johannesburg Metro police officers apprehended a suspect for attempted murder following a high-speed chase in Midrand recently.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, Xolani Fihla said that the suspect was spotted by patrolling Metro police officers in Sunninghill.

They ordered the suspect, who was driving a white Range Rover to stop, but instead the suspect drove off to evade the officers.

The officers chased the suspect along Van Der Bijl Avenue in Sunninghill.

In the process, he allegedly skipped a red traffic light and almost hit a Metro police officer. The suspect was stopped in Waterfall and arrested.

Fihla added that the suspect was charged with reckless driving and attempted murder and was detained at the Midrand Police Station.
