Diepsloot men arrested for possession

DIEPSLOOT – Three suspicious men had their vehicle searched after being seen in the evening loading cell phone tower batteries into it.

Three male suspects who were allegedly in possession of suspected stolen property were arrested on 23 October in Diepsloot East.

The suspects were allegedly found with suspected stolen property and suspected stolen motor vehicle.

The suspects, aged 24, 29 and 37, were spotted by members of Crime Intelligence who were on duty and were seen offloading cell phone tower batteries from a sedan into a bakkie.

Spokesperson of Diepsloot Police Station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said the members investigated and found 10 cell phone tower batteries. “On further investigation, the licence disc and registration plate of the suspects’ bakkie did not correspond with the Vin number. It emerged that the car was reported stolen at Wierdabrug Police Station in September this year.”

The suspects now face charges of possession of stolen property and suspected stolen motor vehicle. They appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 27 October.
