Shooting incident leaves one dead in Fourways

FOURWAYS – Spokesperson for the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that there was a shoot-out on 30 October.

Update 2 November 2020: 

Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder after the death of a 44-year-old man was shot dead, and his colleague was injured on the morning of 30 October. 

Gauteng police spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo said it is alleged that the deceased and his colleague were on duty taxi patrollers for the Randburg United Local and Long Distance Taxi Association (RULLDTA) at corner Fourways Boulevard and Percy streets next to a taxi rank opposite Fourways Mall. There were then confronted by two armed unknown men.

“The suspects opened fire on the victims and then fled the scene. The deceased sustained multiple gunshots wounds and was certified dead at the scene. His colleague sustained injuries and was taken to hospital,” he said. 

The motive for the shooting cannot be confirmed at the moment, but it is suspected to be related to taxi violence. Police investigation is still ongoing.

A shooting incident on the morning of 30 October near the corner of Roos Street and Fourways Boulevard has left one person dead.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. Spokesperson for the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that there was a shoot-out and that SAPS were on the scene.
