Covid-19 : Over 250 000 confirmed cases have been recorded

There were an additional 140 deaths recorded on 10 July.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced in a statement on 10 July that there are now 250 687 confirmed Covid-19 cases.

There were 12 349 new cases recorded and an additional 140 Covid-19 related deaths as of 10 July. In KwaZulu-Natal there were 11 deaths, in the Eastern Cape there were 24 deaths, in Gauteng there were 39 deaths and in the Western Cape there were 66 deaths. This brings the total number of deaths in the country to 3 860.

Over two million tests have been conducted, 56 663 of which were conducted since the previous report.

Gauteng now represents 34.7 per cent of the national total of cases. The Western Cape follows with 30.3 per cent. The Eastern Cape represents 18.5 per cent and all other provinces account for less than 10 per cent of the national total of Covid-19 cases.

To date, there have been 118 232 recoveries, which represents a 47.2 per cent recovery rate.
