Restaurant’s soup drive makes for a warmer winter for Diepsloot locals

DIEPSLOOT – The Aurum restaurant has set a goal of donating 25 000 cups of soup to community members in need.

Two local businesses have joined forces to lend a helping hand to those communities who do not have access to a regular meal during this challenging time of Covid-19.

In their quest to fight hunger and help those who have nothing to eat during the pandemic, a Sandton-based restaurant, Aurum in partnership with Legacy Pride, Legacy Hotel and Resort’s non-profit company, have launched a soup drive initiative to give back to the community. Managing director at Aurum, Paulo Santo said they have set themselves a target of donating 25 000 cups of soup and 2 500 loaves of bread over the next three months.

For every dish purchased off their new Comfort menu, a cup of soup and bread will be donated to a number of initiatives including the Dieplsoot Residents Association.

“Being in the food business means that we have a responsibility to share the joy of a wholesome winter meal with those in need, not just with our paying customers,” Santo said.

“For the next three months, we have set ourselves a target of serving 25 000 cups of soup and 2 500 loaves of bread. We hope that this will help the many communities who do not have access to a regular meal, never mind a wholesome, home-cooked one.”

Legacy Hotels and Resorts group marketing manager Robert Hodson said Legacy Pride would contribute a cup for every cup prepared for the first 1 000 orders.
“Giving back is very much part of the Legacy story and we hope that this partnership will make a difference to those in need,” he said.

To play your part and support Aurum and Legacy Pride in their quest to reach their goal, remember to order off the new Aurum Comfort menu either via Dineplan or call or WhatsApp 076 471 1489.
