ICYMI: Two suspects arrested following commotion at Fourways Hospital parking lot

FOURWAYS – The suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court soon facing charges of possession of car-breaking implements.

Two suspects (aged 45 and 48) were arrested in the parking lot at Life Fourways Hospital on 26 May.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele, police officers were patrolling the area when they spotted security guards chasing after the suspects.

“The police joined the chase and both suspects were arrested,” said Makhubele.

The suspects’ vehicle, a silver Mazda CX5, was also searched and found to be operating with cloned registration numbers.

“The police also recovered different car keys, several vehicle registration numbers, a car-jamming device, steel cutting tools, screwdrivers and hand gloves.”

Makhubele said that police will investigate whether the suspects are linked to other crimes. The investigation is ongoing.

Marketing manager at Life Fourways Hospital Tanya Jenneker said, “Two known car theft suspects have been arrested for attempted theft of a vehicle.

“A commotion took place at Life Fourways Hospital after suspects were chased onto the hospital premises. No-one was injured. SAPS and emergency services attended to the scene,” said Jenneker.

The suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of possession of car-breaking implements.
