Local mall helps deliver food parcels to Diepsloot community

FOURWAYS – Fourways Crossing and Steyn City work together to deliver food parcels in Diepsloot

While many people have been impacted by Covid-19 and the lockdown, a local shopping centre extended a helping hand to Diepsloot residents.

Angelisa Gengan, the marketing manager for Fourways Crossing said that they are thankful for the opportunity to be a part of an amazing initiative that is helping and uplifting the community. “Fourways Crossing partnered with Steyn City Foundation and was able to feed over 300 families in the Diepsloot area. Each grocery pack included a 5kg bag of porridge giving residents a nourishing start to these cold mornings along with fruits and vegetables providing essential vitamins.”

“We take this opportunity to thank our community for their ongoing and valued support, and assure all our shoppers that we are committed to playing our part in preventing the spread of Covid-19.”

Since the lockdown began, the Steyn City Foundation has been providing food parcels to community members in Diepsloot. The initiative was set in motion on 9 April. Giuseppe Plumari, CEO of Steyn City Properties, explained that the foundation reacted to the need of Diepsloot residents who have no access to food now that their income has been threatened by the implementation of the coronavirus lockdown.

The foundation has partnered with other organisations such as Gift of the Givers and Bidvest to assist with the deliveries. The Fourways Review previously reported on these donations in Steyn City Foundation works to ensure Diepsloot residents are fed published on 6 May.
