King of the Whip postponed due to Covid-19

FOURWAYS – Everyone who bought tickets for the King of the Whip will not have to buy new ones as they will still be valid amidst the date change.

The 2020 King of the Whip (KOTW) competition that was set to host the country’s best motocross athletes has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak in South Africa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Sunday, 15 March that coronavirus is a national state of disaster and has put a number of preventative measures in place to contain the spread of the virus. One measure implemented was the banning of public events where more than 100 people would be present.

The event was due to take place at Montecasino on 18 April. A media statement by Ruby Mokwele from Strategic Public Relations said that a new competition date will be announced. “We are heeding the call to work together to ensure the containment of the virus…The health and safety of our riders, crew, event-goers and the South African public is of paramount importance during this time. All of our event partners remain committed to bringing King of the Whip to life.”

“We are working with our team and event partners on a new event date, which will be announced as soon as we are in a position to do so.”

Tickets that have already been purchased will remain valid upon the new announcement of the new date.
