Help 4Paws Animal Shelter build a better future for animals in need

RIVERSANDS – As the 4Paws Animal Shelter plans to build boarding kennels as a stream of income for the non-profit, professional builders are encouraged to volunteer their expertise to the project.

Any professional builders who want to donate their expertise and help animals in need are invited to get involved with the 4Paws Animal Shelter project, which will begin in March and will see the non-profit shelter build more kennels on their Riversands-based premises. The aim of the project is to bring in more funds to 4Paws so that they can continue to care for abused, abandoned and stray cats and dogs.

“We want to build extra kennels here at 4Paws so that people can board their animals with us,” explained Jenni du Plessis of the shelter. “This will help 4Paws create a steady income – right now we depend on donations from the public, but everyone has been struggling and that means we have gotten less and less help.

“People are welcome to donate building materials such as bricks, fencing, cement, corrugated iron sheeting and shade netting. Volunteers are also welcome to help with the work.”

The project is due to begin at the end of February, and a section of the property has already been earmarked for the new kennels. The funds created by this new initiative will be used to provide food and shelter to the 300 or so animals currently living there, help cover the costs associated with veterinary care and aid the 4Paws team as they rescue animals and care for feral cat colonies across Gauteng.

“We need professional builders who are willing to help us out of the goodness of their hearts as we’re already struggling financially,” concluded Tammy Knepscheld, the shelter’s manager.

Anyone who can help is urged to contact the 4Paws team via email at tammy@4ourpaws.org.za or WhatsApp Knepscheld directly on 083 377 3219.
