Become an informant for the Midrand Police Station

MIDRAND – The station commander said that one informant was paid R50 000 for valuable information which led to the arrest and conviction of suspects.

The Midrand Police Station has urged community members to help them fight crime.

In a recent media statement, the station’s spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela and the station commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso said that they are looking for people to register as informers at the station in order to help police trace and arrest suspects as well as prevent crime in their policing precinct.

Tsotsotso said, “For every bit of information that leads to the arrest of the suspects in a particular crime that happened, the informer will be paid. There is already an informer that has been paid an amount of R50 000 for the valuable information that he gave to the police which led to the arrest and conviction of suspects.

“There are also two other informers who are in the process of being paid. As the station commander, I appeal to the community – there is still a lot of money to be paid to informers. In order to work with us, you must give us information about hijackings that are happening in Glen Austin, including those of [e-hailing] taxis, house robberies taking place in all sectors and theft out of motor vehicles at shopping centres.”

Brigadier Tsotsotso explained that they can register at the Midrand Police Station, where they will undergo a few screening exams like fingerprints being checked to see if the applicant has any pending cases against them.

“All informers’ identities will be protected by the state at all times. Interested people can contact Sergent Matome Tlamela on 079 877 6484 or Constable Thabiso Selowa on 071 676 2223 or alternatively call the Midrand Police Station number 011 347 1600.”
