Kids learn about safety at Witkoppen Primary School

FOURWAYS GARDENS – The children of Witkoppen Primary School learned about safety in a fun way when Douglasdale police along with their puppet friend came to visit.

It’s never too early to learn how to keep yourself safe, which is why law enforcement officials recently took the time to address safety issues at a local school.

On 11 February the Douglasdale Police Station, joined by Captain Granville Meyer of the Sandton Police Station, visited the children of Witkoppen Primary School on William Nicol Drive in order to talk to them about important issues around safety, security and doing the right thing. Along with talks by various stakeholders, the visit also included a special chat from Captain Khumalo who shared his five golden rules on how to keep safe and encouraged the children to reach out to police if they need help.

“Today we’ll be addressing important issues with the children, including bullying, drugs and substance abuse, and also sexual assault which many children experience,” said Captain Mpho Tsetlhane, the spokesperson for the Douglasdale Police Station who helped organise the day. “We’ve also invited Captain Meyer to help share the message through Captain Khumalo, so that what we say will really stay with them.”
