All paws on deck for the GDA

PAULSHOF – Find out how you can support the South African Guide Dogs Association in 2020 by watching this video of Nadia Sands.

It’s going to be a barking busy 2020 for the team at the South African Guide-Dogs Association (GDA), who need your help to continue their important work.

The GDA is located in the Paulshof area and undertakes work in a number of areas, including providing seeing-eye dogs for the visually impaired, providing service dogs for adults with disabilities, providing autism support dogs for children with autism and running the College of Orientation and Mobility from their premises, which teaches the visually impaired how to navigate the world independently using tools such as canes.

Recently, the Fourways Review spoke to Nadia Sands, in charge of marketing for the organisation, about how people can help. Watch the above video to see what she had to say!

You can also help the GDA in a number of other ways, including:

  •  Donate cash that will be used to raise and train working dogs for a lifetime of helping others
  •  Contribute R10 towards a brick for the planned new puppy block at their Paulshof grounds
  •  If you have the time, volunteer to raise a puppy for about a year before their formal training begins
  •  Host your own fundraiser in support of the GDA
  •  Sign up for a monthly debit order with the organisation
  •  Volunteer as a dog walker for the animals that are in kennels during training.

To find out more about the GDA’s work and how you can get involved, read all about it in the next edition of the Fourways Review.
