100 undocumented foreign nationals arrested in Diepsloot

DIEPSLOOT – Police are on high alert after Diepsloot unrest on 23 January.


Following the Police Minister General Bheki Cele and the Minister of Home Affairs Aaron Motsoaledi’s visit to Dieploot on 24 January, a total of 100 undocumented foreign nationals were taken in and handed over for further processing to immigration officers from the Department of Home Affairs.

On 27 January, an integrated team comprising of members from the SAPS Tactical Response Team, the Operational Response Service and the K9 units and Diepsloot police embarked on patrols in the area which led to the arrests.

Gauteng police spokesperson, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said, “Over and above the TRT and K9 units, police visibility has been heightened since incidents of violence erupted last week Wednesday. Police will maintain a presence in the area until stability has been restored.”
