Hope for Christmas

FOURWAYS – Underprivileged children recently received some very special gifts thanks to the parents and staff of the Merry Days and Little Saints Preschool.

Underprivileged children got some Christmas joy recently when a local school donated presents to them.

In honour of the festive spirit, the Merry Days and Little Saints Preschool, which is located on Othello Drive in Fourways, asked parents from the school to donate gifts which the school could then donate to children in need from the surrounding areas. The preschool cares for children between three months and six years old and was founded in 2006.

The presents were collected on the same night that the preschool hosted a Christmas movie and charity night on campus for their families.

The school is often involved in helping those in need, even receiving a special ‘Unsung Heroes in Our Community’ award from the Douglasdale-based non-profit organisation the Daily Bread Organisation in 2017 for its efforts.

Commenting on the gifts, Charmaine McGinley of Daily Bread hoped they made a difference. “The parents at Merry Days and Little Saints donated gifts for kids less fortunate,” she said. “To help spread some festive cheer, principal of the school Jerry Thomas did his bit by greeting each vulnerable child with a message of hope.”

Daily Bread will be hosting a second Unsung Heroes Awards event this year and is appealing to members of the public for sponsorship of the event.
