Joburg Water repairs major burst pipe in Fourways
FOURWAYS – The lines have been repaired but Johannesburg Water has not given an estimated time when water supply will be restored.
A major burst pipe on William Nicol opposite Fourways Mall has been affecting water supply in the Fourways area since yesterday, 7 January.
According to Johannesburg Water on Twitter, the water supply has been isolated to the affected section and excavation and repairs have been completed. The Johannesburg Water team attended to a collapsed sewer line and incidentally broke a water line which was pressurised during excavation.
The statement said, “As per our license condition, Johannesburg Water dispatched our laboratory teams to the scene to conduct water quality tests on the line and interim results show no contamination on the water and we expect final results by tomorrow (9 January).”
The repairs have been completed and Johannesburg Water is currently recharging the line.
Water has been isolated. However there is still water in the network. Once we have drained the line we will commence repairs. No water complaints currently are for the high lying areas in Fourways. Tanks have been dispatched to Fourways life hospital. There is no ETR currently. pic.twitter.com/QFkqFEmy24
