Can you help Friends of Free Wildlife

KYALAMI – Here is a list of donations that the Friends of Free Wildlife organisation are asking for from the public this festive season.

Wildlife in need is hoping for Christmas presents too.

The Friends of Free Wildlife non-profit organisation is a community-based, public-funded volunteer organisation based in Maple Road, Kyalami which works to rescue, rehabilitate and then release urban wildlife that comes into the centre in need of help. Dependant entirely on donations from the public, the organisation is appealing to the public to please make a contribution to their work over the festive season.

“We don’t close for the holidays,” said Margi Brocklehurst of the organisation. “We’ll be open to accept wildlife that needs our help.”

So far this year, the organisation has cared for a number of interesting animals including Archie the aardwolf who was rescued after his pregnant mother was accidentally shot dead by hunters, as well as many birds, reptiles and other animals that would otherwise suffer an unfortunate fate.

Brocklehurst shared the organisation’s wish list for this holiday season.

  •  the services of a printer for forms etc.
  • a weed eater and the petrol it needs to run

  • Floating duck pellets (50kg)
