Cricket and soccer balls flew all over the show at an inaugural fun day co-hosted by Little Kickers Midrand and United Stars Cricket.
Reddam House Waterfall was abuzz on a hot and sunny 30 November.
Young cricketers gave soccer a go and soccer players gave cricket a go, and the children played on loads of water slides and jumping castles in between.

Parents got in on the fun with some soccer games for moms and dads, and there was a competition to see which dad could hit a cricket ball the furthest. The prize for this was a designer watch.

Everyone left with a smile on their face as well as goody bags, medals and gifts for children and adults alike.
“Today is our year-end event and we want the children to have loots of fun. It is in a fun and pressure-free environment,” said Little Kickers Midrand owner, Manuela Jardim.

United Stars Cricket co-owner Mars Vickery said the event was a success. “The whole day is about coming together as a group and the boys and girls to have fun playing the sports they enjoy and afterwards to have some excitement and jumping going on at the jumping castles,” he said.

The pair said their organisations would be working more closely in the future, as they both have similar age targets, which are children from the age of two or three to Grade three, and their sports are often played at different times of the year.

“They [the sports] help with different things,” Vickery added.
“With cricket, we worry about hand-eye coordination and with soccer, it is foot-eye coordination. It is bringing a holistic approach to our little athletes.”
