Donate a toy and make a child’s Christmas

FOURWAYS – Make a difference in an underprivileged child's life this Christmas by donating a toy to Fourways Main Reef Rotary's 2019 Toy Drive.

It is Christmas time once again and a time for giving, goodwill and cheer!

The Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club, now in their ninth year, has begun their annual toy drive collection and is appealing to members of the public for donations of new toys, unwrapped, which can be given away as Christmas presents to less fortunate children. The club will wrap, pack and sort the presents according to age and gender before distribution.

“We have many charities and orphanages who appeal to us for toys, hoping that we can help them make their children’s Christmas a bit more cheerful,” said Stephen Margo, the chairman in charge of the toy drive committee. “Rotarians give freely of their time in sorting, wrapping, packing and delivering the toys.

“It is one of the many community projects that the club runs. The greater the number of toys collected, the greater the number of children’s homes we can visit and the greater the number of children we can make happy.”

He added that when possible, the club also visits hospitals to hand out toys to children being helped by the Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC), the Smile Foundation and Reach for a Dream, a cause he said was very close to member’s hearts.

“To see the children’s faces light up with huge smiles and hear their laughter brings a lump to our throats,” Margo concluded.

Anyone who is willing and able to donate a new toy to the drive is asked to please drop it off with Poppy or Lidia at the Norscot Manor Recreation Centre, located at 16B Penguin Drive in Norscot, Fourways.
