The police recovered one unlicensed firearm, nine rounds of ammunition and a number of illegal drugs including cocaine, ecstasy, dagga cookies and sweets, worth an estimated R40 000 in total. The suspect will appear in the Randburg Masgistrates’ Court soon to face charges of the illegal possession of a firearm and dealing in drugs. Police investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

“Douglasdale police management commended the [officers] for closing the space for drug dealers, and the removal of illegal firearms which are mostly used in the commission of violent crimes,” Tsetlhane said in the statement.
