Paulshof keeps it clean

PAULSHOF – The environment team of the Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association along with volunteers cleaned up the area on Spruit Day.

Paulshof residents joined in the fight against litter on 19 October as volunteers from the area took part in Spruit Day efforts.

Spruit Day, which started back in 2013, is a day that calls for Johannesburg residents to come out and volunteer their time and energy to clean up the Braamfontein Spruit, a waterway which begins in Northcliff and runs across the city all the way to Midrand. The Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association (PRRA) joined in the efforts by focusing on the greenbelt park in Paulshof near Umhlanga and Clifton roads.

“The PRRA environment team, under the leadership of Brigitte Smith, have been working tirelessly this year to help keep many parts of Paulshof clean,” said Catherine Guerden. “Much of the clean-up had started in the two weeks running up to Spruit Day.

“We had a good turnout of residents on Spruit Day and managed to finish before time.”

The clean-up efforts on Spruit Day took place on a stretch of land in the neighbourhood where the City had begun to remove alien vegetation.

“We are very grateful for Brigitte and her marvellous team. Also thankful for our ward councillor Candice’s [James] support, help and the tasty cupcakes [she gave volunteers on the day].”
