Pedestrians injured after a two-vehicles collision in Fourways

FOURWAYS – Four people were injured in the incident, one patient was taken to a specialised facility by a medical helicopter.


Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the corner of Montecasino Boulevard and William Nicol Drive in Fourways on Saturday afternoon (26 October). 

Spokesperson for Netcare 911, Shawn Herbst, said reports from the scene indicated that a minibus taxi and truck were involved in a collision which knocked down pedestrians in the process. “Medics assessed the scene and found that four people had sustained moderate to serious injuries.”

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said they found one patient with fatal injuries. ” The patient was declared dead at the scene. The truck driver and the passenger sustained moderate injuries. The taxi driver was entrapped and was extricated by the City of Johannesburg with the jaws of life. He sustained moderate injuries.”

Herbst added that one patient was seriously injured and airlifted by a medical helicopter to a specialised facility.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.
