Witkoppen Road rehab is delayed

WITKOPPEN – The road rehabilitation project on Witkoppen road was supposed to be done a month ago but due to poor workmanship the process was delayed.


Due to technical issues, the road rehabilitation on Witkoppen has been delayed.

In a previous Fourways Review article, Road works to take note of [Week ending 6 September], the Department of Roads and Transport announced that parts of Witkoppen Road in Sunninghill will be undergoing repairs. The project was supposed to run from 20 August to 8 September but due to technical issues, the project still remains a work in progress.

Spokesperson of Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport Theo Nkonki said, “There have been some delays in the project due to slow contractor performance, the department has put in place corrective measures to ensure that the project proceeds without any further delays.”

It is uncertain how long the process will take.

Works are still ongoing and will take place at the following intersections:

Section 1

Intersection of Woodmead and Maxwell drives near Eskom Megawatt Park

(Witkoppen entrance)

Section 2

Maxwell Drive and Witkoppen Road intersection (Megawatt Park Intersection)

Section 3

Intersection of Maxwell Drive and Witkoppen Road near Bowling Avenue

Section 4

Intersection of Witkoppen and Nanyuki roads near the Netcare Sunninghill Hospital

Section 5

Portion of Witkoppen Road from Netcare Sunninghill Hospital to the Sunninghill Taxi Rank

Section 6

Intersection of Witkoppen and Main roads.
