Labour Court stops banking strike

JOBURG – Cosatu and Sasbo have received an interdict from the Labour Court, preventing the banking strike from going ahead.

The Labour Court has handed an interdict to SA Society of Bank Officials (Sasbo) to stop the banking strike that was planned to take place on 27 September.

The #BankingStrike is currently a hot topic on Twitter. The strike would have been the biggest banking strike in 99 years.  This ruling means that should the strike go ahead,  it will be an illegal strike.

The reason for the strike was because Sasbo is unhappy with contemplated and current job losses in the financial sector and Cosatu believes the country is in an economic crisis.

More details will follow.
