Let’s get delicious, says Tamara Dey

FOURWAYS – The DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival is throwing a Heritage Day weekend of note.

Legendary record label Kalawa Jazmee Records is celebrating their 25th year in business and with a host of artists under their banner, it’s bound to blow your mind. Icons such as Bongo Maffin, Trompies, and Boom Shaka will be making a comeback – how delicious!

We’re especially excited to see singer and songwriter Tamara Dey. Having had her big break with the label, Dey has always been part of the family. She will be performing at the festival for the first time this year in celebration. “You know, I’ve always been to Delicious as a festivalgoer but never to perform! I actually can’t wait to sing some songs for this delicious crowd,” she said.

Dey feels a celebration like this is definitely needed. Being pioneers in the music industry, this independent label has given life to so many stars in music. “It’s a birthday party and we’re inviting all the fans, the Delicious Festival is the perfect day out for family and friends with a killer combination of good music and delicious food.” Some other fan favourites such as Shekhinah and Lira will also be blessing us with some jams.

Catch the trendiest stars at the Red Bull Delicious Dance Arena – one of our personal favourites is most definitely Cassper Nyovest. Joining him will be DJ Shimza, Lady Zamar, Major League DJs and DJ Kent to name a few. International acts Corinne Baily Rae, Raphael Saadiq and Ten City will also hit one of the biggest stages in Delicious history.

A world-class event with a whole mile of food. This year the festival will introduce the Delicious Mile, a gourmet street-food market with 30 sensational food trucks and stalls to suit every palate. You can have an absolute taste experience from Mexican to Pan African, tripe wraps, hard-body chicken and dumplings and what about the infamous Nigerian-style jerk chicken? Indulge and be delicious.

The carb-conscious and greenies will also be catered for with vegan and vegetarian options. “You know I don’t have a favourite part of the festival, but I can tell you that the food is definitely one of them,” Dey said. Getting ready for summer, we can look forward to a new single dropping at the end of October. “Pure Mad Love is the perfect summer song. I’ve collaborated with DJ Kimmy K who is just amazing, and so we’re excited. Let’s get delicious!”
