Douglasdale Police Station conducted an operation over this weekend, from 6 September to 8 September, in and around the Douglasdale area, arresting 18 suspects.
Spokesperson for the station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said in a statement, “The suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from rape, assault [with the intent to cause] grievously bodily harm, possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, dealing in liquor, possession of suspected drugs, assault common, reckless and negligence driving, theft and shoplifting.”
Among the arrested suspects, eight were for dealing in liquor without licenses.
The suspects are expected to appear at the Randburg Magistrates’ court.
Tshethane added that the police will continue to conduct such operations to make that area a crime-free zone.
