Don’t drown in your tears, read about it

FOURWAYS – The 29-year-old author of Drowning in Own Tears is originally from Malamulele town in Limpopo and has had a knack for writing since 2013.

Meshack Mathe Bevhula can easily be called a jack of all trades.

He’s an administrator during the week, a motivational speaker on weekends and a writer in-between all that.

At the soft opening of Fourways Mall on 22 August, Meshack hoped to sell as many copies of his new book as he could.

“I always describe my book as ‘the people’s book’ so I prefer selling it directly. It is this kind of strategy that got me to reach the National Best-Selling Status,” he said.

The 29-year-old author of Drowning in Own Tears is originally from Malamulele in Limpopo and has had a knack for writing since 2013.

“My brother, Tiyiselani Bevhula, was always an inspiration and actually introduced me to writing in 2013 when I was writing for newspapers and magazines in opinions pieces. Most of my articles were always crowned the best article of the day and week, to a point where most people advised me to write books.”

Referring to his book’s catchy title Bevhula said, “I’ve realised that most of the problems we face as people are actually problems we have created for ourselves, so the book or story resonates well with the title,” he said.

The novel is filled with romance, motivation, conflict, secrets, and sadness. The book addresses and communicates black people’s struggles which are often experienced in certain areas because of historical and geographical backgrounds.

Written in 2014, he only managed to publish the book in May last year and more than 1 000 copies have been sold. “Touching the first copy was such a priceless moment in my life and selling that many copies were an even happier moment.”

Bevhula plans on publishing a new book next year.
