From 23 August to 25 August, the police in the Johannesburg West cluster have arrested 149 suspects during operations that were conducted throughout seven stations in the Johannesburg District.
These stations include Douglasdale, Randburg, Linden, Florida, Diepsloot, Honeydew and Roodepoort.
The suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging including murder, rape, possession of unlicensed ammunition, possession of drugs, possession of a dangerous weapon, dealing in liquor without a license, drunk driving, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, shoplifting, illegal gambling.
“The arrested suspects will appear at Randburg and Roodepoort magistrates’ court soon,” said Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, spokesperson for the Douglasdale Police Station.
The police appealed to members of the community to keep on reporting all criminal activities in their area by phoning the nearest police station or by calling 08600 10111.
