It’s time to shop till you drop at Fourways Mall
The expansion section of the mall is ready for its grand opening and Fourways Mall fans will be delighted to hear its happening today!
Fourways Mall is ready to open today (22 August) … just what the Fourways community has been waiting for!
Finally, the wrappers are off, barriers are down, and the doors are open, revealing Gauteng’s most exciting mall, with trendsetting offerings for every member of the family.
The much-anticipated expansion project – in progress for a little over four years – has added more than 100 000m² of space across all levels. The total space for retail is 178 000m² and it includes what was known as Fourways View and, not forgetting the previously standalone Game wing, which are now all under one Fourways Mall roof.
The mall now has more than 250 new brands and stores added to the retail mix, offering a staggering total of 450 shops and experiences that make for a great day out.
So, whether you’re a busy mom trying to fit everything into a day that’s too short, a fabulous fashionista feasting on the fashions on display, or a group of friends spending time together, you can bet your bottom dollar that there are stores and entertainment opportunities to keep everyone happy.
The entrances to the original mall now form the gateways into the expansion project, with soaring passages between multi-level retail sections forming a ‘4’ at the heart of the mall, around the nucleus of the football field-sized Market Court.
The spacious passageways link the mall with a supermarket or related store in each corner. This ensures that shoppers have easy access to the retailers they need – whether it’s the most exciting fashion brands in the country, in their state-of-the-art stores, or whether they need to grab something for dinner.
Even though the original entrances are now in the heart of the mall, embraced in spacious retail courts, there’s no shortage of access points. The mall has 52 entrances for vehicles and pedestrians, including an impressive, but invisible, trucking and logistics tunnel underneath the building.
There’s even a custom-designed taxi terminal making it easy for public transport users to access the mall and feel safe and secure.
Bearing the mall’s size in mind, each node has been allocated its own playful colour theme, with all signage and lighting in that area – regardless of which floor – referring to that particular node.
This will help shoppers navigate through the new sections of the mall, making it easy to find their way around, and importantly, back to their parking location!
The largest original anchor tenants have stayed in the same locations, although all of them have upgraded their stores significantly. Game, Woolworths, Checkers and Dis-Chem are all in the same locations, and Game has an exciting new neighbour in Pick n Pay – with these stores anchoring the mall’s four corners.
In addition to the vast range of fashion department stores and iconic brand outlets, the expanded Fourways Mall has been designed with families in mind, with a number of ‘shoppertainment’ destinations included. These venues include perennial favourite, Adventure Golf, Bounce (the energy-filled trampoline park), Fun Factory and cinemas offering something to keep even the most demanding teen or tween happy.
With the expansion section ready for opening, Fourways Mall fans will still see further developments in the coming months, with brands moving from the original section to the expanded area being replaced by even more exciting new outlets.

Playing on the four themes: food, fashion, fun, and family – all things that are at the heart of the Fourways Mall community – the mall will be hosting interactive events in the magnificent new Marketplace, with its soaring ceiling, abundant natural light, and convenient location at the centre of the new mall.
Food, glorious food
The mall is partnering with all their food and hospitality tenants to show their gratitude for the community. Each day during lunch, restaurants, fast-food and quick-service restaurants will be putting on a harvest table for different sections of the Fourways community, including ward councillors, police and security personnel, media, guests from retirement homes and other folks who provide the backbone of the environment. Little Chefs will host a daily food workshop for kids, and the whole area will be decorated with giant food-themed props – perfect for fun-food-selfies.
Fabulous fashion
Fashion tenants will be showcasing their most exciting outfits in a series of giant display cases located throughout the mall, giving shoppers an extra insight into the season’s latest fashion trends.
Look out for the giant lipstick swing, as well as smaller activations and mannequins throughout the centre.
Fun, fun, fun!
The mall is home to some of the most exciting and fun destinations in Johannesburg, including Bounce, Adventure Golf, The Fun Factory, and Ster Kinekor cinemas. The Marketplace Court will be home to mini versions of these outlets from 20 September to 2 October 2019, including mini trampolines, a mini putt-putt course and other amazing activities.
Family is everything – especially at Fourways
The final two weeks, from 4 to 16 October 2019, the mall will celebrate all the special moments that come together to honour the families of Fourways, with giant emoji heads located through the mall to encourage families to capture the fun of their shopping experience. Giant clapper boards and a brightly coloured ribbon tunnel also provide the perfect backdrop for precious family moments.
Fourways Mall is the first mall in the world to create its own family of characters to help visitors navigate their way around the centre. Look out for the larger-than-life sculptures of these fun-filled characters – and let your children have fun engaging with them as they become the landmarks and much-loved personalities of the exciting new Fourways Mall.
