St Peter’s takes it outdoors

PAULSHOF – The boys of St Peter's Prep had a fun-filled day outdoors on 5 June in celebration of World Environment Day.

The Boys Junior Prep of St Peter‘s celebrated World Environment Day on 5 June with an outdoor classroom.

All the academic learning, creative play and games were planned outside in the garden and playground on the day.

The Grade 0 boys have been doing Peter Pan as a theme and so they decided to have a dress up day, meaning that there were many crocodiles, pirates and Peter Pan’s running around. Their activities included a costume parade, shadow drawing and a treasure map treasure hunt around the school.

The Grade 1s made outdoor games using anti-waste materials. The games included bottle cap tic-tac-toe, yogurt tub bean bag toss addition game and toilet roll tube skittles.

The Grade 2 boys made maths, phonics and sight word games. Some examples of these were milk bottle skittles to make two-digit numbers, metre measuring sticks made with sticks from the campus, sight word relay, hula hoop phonics and an odd/even scavenger hunt.

Finally, the school ended off the day with a visit from a very special owl along with the carers and rescuers of owlproject.org, who care for owls around the province.
