An exhibition for like-minded people to gather

NORTHGATE – The 10th MediaTech Africa expo is coming to the Ticketpro Dome from 17 to 19 July and is a place for like-minded people to meet and learn about entertainment technology.

It is a place for techies, businesses and just plain enthusiasts to meet and share knowledge at the upcoming MediaTech Africa exhibition in mid-July.

Mediatech Africa has been running since 2001, attracts more than 7 500 visitors and showcases about 600 brands from about 90 global and local exhibitor companies in the fields of broadcast TV and radio, staging, audiovisual integration, studio recording and more. The event is a chance to learn about new developments in the world of entertainment technology, talk to experts and enjoy new and exciting experiences.

“The MediaTech Expo is held every two years as, while changes in technology do happen quickly, they don’t happen quickly enough to have an event every year,” explained Claire Badenhorst, who has been involved in the show since 2005. “This technology exhibition is the only one in Africa like this.”

The three-day event aims to thrill and interest attendees. Live demonstrations, presentation zones, and special events are on the programme and other familiar favourites expected include the Black Box (a fully automated light and visual experience to wow people), a drone demonstration where visitors can see the bird’s-eye view onscreen in real-time at the venue, and outdoor sound demos to mention but a few attractions.

The day is a chance to experience cutting-edge technology up close and personal. “It’s a chance to just experience – people can touch, feel the new technology,” Badenhorst added.

“It’s also a great opportunity for networking, as this will be the only time that so many technologies and industry players will be in one space. Chatting with suppliers and receiving training from them is another draw.”

The MediaTech Africa expo runs from 17 to 19 July. On 17 and 18 July, it is open to visitors from 10am until 6pm, and on 19 July it will be open from 10am to 5pm.

If you register on their website before 12 July, entrance is free. Thereafter, the entrance is R100 at the door.
