Child author wows crowd
FOURWAYS – 10-year-old Ngcali Metu becomes the latest child author to debut her book at the Skoobs Theatre of Books under Bala Books.
Montecasino-based Skoobs Theatre and Bala Books recently hosted another successful book launch for 10-year-old child author, Ngcali Metu.
Bala Books publishes children’s books that are authored by children and the youth of South Africa from the age of seven. The company also offers book-writing courses aimed at schooling the youth in the anthologies of authoring books.
The young writers are paired with graduate mentors who specialise in a range of disciplines including linguistics, education, creative-writing and African literature to tutor them in the aspects of authoring children’s books.
Ngcali became the latest child author from the Bala Books, as the 10-year-old officially debuted her book titled The Clever Twins at the Skoobs Theatre of Books. The book is about twins named Zazi and Azi who were exceptional young children with a heart of gold. The dynamic duo enjoyed empowering and uplifting the community, little did they realise how gifted they are. However, their mom and teachers noticed the uniqueness they possess which led to the twins having to make some difficult decisions.
Child author Ngcali couldn’t contain her excitement when asked about her book. “I’m really happy with the book I wrote, I didn’t love writing at the beginning but after I attend the Bala Books writing course I did.”
Head honcho at Bala Books Glad Kaiser said they happy to have produced another child author, “It’s a big moment for us, we’re adding another child author to our mist.
“It’s very interesting because before getting launched, her book was already selling. She had a school launch and I think she has sold close to 300 copies thus far and we expect a good sell-out going forward,” he revealed.
