Owl rescue centre appeals for help

FOURWAYS – Owl Rescue Centre is pleading with the public and business owners in and around Joburg to come forward with any form of assistance as the organisation aims to recycle 600 tons of plastic per year.

Following their decision to manufacture all their products, including owl houses, bat houses and beehives from recycled plastic to make a greater impact through conservation efforts, non-profit organisation and owl rehabilitation facility, Owl Rescue Centre, is pleading with the public and business owners in and around Joburg to come forward with any form of assistance.

The organisation aims to recycle 600 tons of plastic per year, but the rescue centre doesn’t have funds to buy petrol for their vehicles to collect the plastic.

The organisation is dedicated to protecting rescue owls that are in danger and rehabilitating and caring for owls that have been injured, sick, poisoned or orphaned. The owls are then released back into their natural environment at a later stage using specifically researched release methods.

The organisation needs funds for petrol so they can transport collected plastic bags.

However, all this might not be possible in the near future due to their lack of funds.

Founder Brendan Murray said, “We are based 60km outside Joburg and we’d like to reach out to all animal lovers, companies or sponsors. Any form of help would be appreciated.”

Murry added that anyone who is willing to assist can contact the rescue centre directly on 082 719 5463.
