Paramedics find car wedged under side of truck in fatal Lanseria crash

LANSERIA – One woman was killed, another was critical and airlifted to hospital while two others were seriously injured in the collision on the N14.

Four women, estimated to be in their 30s, were involved in a collision where their car rear-ended a truck on the N14 near the Petroport in Lanseria North last night, 24 May.

This is according to a press statement issued by ER24 spokesperson, Ross Campbell.

“ER24 paramedics and other services, including provincial EMS [Emergency Management Services] and the Fire Department, were on the scene just after 7pm to find a light motor vehicle wedged under the side of a truck and the two women in the front seats entrapped,” read the statement.

“The front passenger unfortunately showed no signs of life and was declared dead on arrival. The driver was found critically injured and in need of extraction. The two passengers in the rear of the vehicle had suffered serious injuries and were immediately transported to a hospital in the area for further treatment by another service.”

Campbell’s statement further read that once the driver had been extracted – using the Jaws Of Life – and stabilised – using Advanced Life Support interventions – the N14 was closed to facilitate an airlift by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to a private hospital in Edenvale.

The SA Police Service was on the scene for further investigations.
