Domestic workers learn how to bake in Fourways

PINESLOPES – Domestic workers got the chance to learn some basic baking skills when they took part in Hirsch's Fourways most recent domestic worker's networking meeting.

Hirsch’s Fourways recently hosted their monthly domestic training for the unsung heroes of the household.

Whirlpool ambassador, Patrice Mukubvu, taught the women basic baking skills.

He showed them how to double a recipe (which is not always as easy as it seems), how to check if the cake is ready and how to decorate with class.

He then stood back and each woman had an opportunity to do a task. They were asked questions afterwards to make sure they all understood what they did and will be able to take the skills home with them.

Michele Brickhill nominated her domestic worker, Maria Malatjie as Hirsch’s domestic worker of the month, who has been with their family for 30 years.

“She has been an absolute gem, a second mother to both my children and a housekeeper that I cannot do without,” Brickhill said.

After the networking event, the ladies took a lot of selfies with their certificates and exchanged recipe ideas.
