Attempted robbery suspects caught red-handed in Woodmead

WOODMEAD – The crime combatting team noticed two men acting suspiciously around traffic lights in Woodmead.

Two men have been arrested for attempted robbery on the corner of Woodmead and Maxwell drives.

There have been efforts to address trio crimes, which include business robbery, house robbery, and hijackings, by the Crime Combatting Team. These efforts continue to yield positive results according to Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson of the Sandton Police Station.

The suspects were arrested at the robots whilst they allegedly tried to do a smash-and-grab.

“The crime combatting team was on patrol in the area to prevent the recent spate of smash-and-grabs and robberies that occurred at the same robots in the last two weeks.”

When the suspects noticed the patrol vehicle, they attempted to run away but were apprehended by the officers. The suspects, aged 32 and 39, were found in possession of a toy gun and spark plugs.

The suspects are currently in detention and will appear in court soon.
