Crawford Lonehill celebrates 20 years

LONEHILL – The children of Crawford College Lonehill sang songs and ate doughnuts as Crawford Schools celebrates 20 years in the area.

The children of Crawford College Lonehill celebrated the school’s birthday with songs and sweet treats on 8 March.

The Crawford Lonehill Pre-Primary School, Preparatory School and College were founded 20 years ago and decided to celebrate the milestone by hosting a cake-cutting ceremony at both the Pre-Primary school and college on the day.

The Fourways Review attended the afternoon event at the college, where children from all the grades gathered on campus to sing songs (including Happy Birthday and the school song).

The children each got a doughnut in celebration, and the evening saw a Neon Night Run through Lonehill for the children from all three schools as well as their families.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to be celebrating 20 years,” said Ingo Vogt, principal of the college. “We are glad to hold a celebration that will bring the community together.”

Vogt added that the school chose the run as a fun school event as it also gave families from the schools a chance to enjoy a picnic outdoors together.

“It’s good to have such history as a school,” added Danielle Muller, the deputy principal. “It is also always nice to get the schools together for a celebration with the community.”

The birthday celebrations will continue throughout the year with numerous events planned at each school.
