Community comes together for Cansa

PAULSHOF – Celebrities and ordinary South Africans came together in the fight against cancer at the recent Montecasino Shavathon on 9 March.

Hildegardt Whites (of 7de Laan fame), Renaldo Schwarp (Jacaranda FM host and kykNET presenter) and Candice Robbertze (Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa Charity 2018 winner) are three of the celebrities who came through during the celebrity hour at Montecasino's Shavathon.

Celebrities and community members alike came out in force to support the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) during a Shavathon hosted at Montecasino from 8 to 10 March.

Not only did the Fourways Review team show up and volunteer to spray or shave the heads of donors [see the page ?], but from 1 pm until 2 pm on 9 March a number of local stars and personalities also made their way to Montecasino to play their part.

“I’m here to support Cansa,” explained Hildegardt Whites, known to television watches as Bonita on the long-running series 7de Laan. “I’ve unfortunately lost many friends to this disease.”

Whites and Candice Robbertze, the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa Charity winner for 2018, both had colourful flower designs spray-painted on their hair by the Shavathon volunteers.

“I am an ambassador for Cansa,” Robbertze told the Fourways Review. “And my father is a survivor – I just want to do what I can to help.”
