Brescia orienteering learners unbeaten

BRYANSTON – The learners have remained unbeaten in the third time in the Orienteering Schools League.

Brescia House learners have remained unbeaten in the third event of the Orienteering Schools League.

Orienteering is a sport that requires navigational skills using a map to get from point to point in diverse terrain, and normally moving at speed. The objective on each leg is to follow the fastest route between controls. The fastest is not always the shortest route and can depend heavily on route choice. Orienteering is therefore very much a strategic, thinking sport in which the fastest athletes do not necessarily win.

The Orienteering league is aimed at learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12 and runs annually in February and March. Brescia’s leading orienteers won the third event of the Orienteering Schools League at Pinnacle College. Sarah Wimberley and Megan Froneman placed in the top 10 junior girls while Sarah Everett, Heather Wimberley and Kristen Cronje placed in the top 10 senior girls.
